My client interaction is both collaborative and evaluative. I always work collaboratively with my clients to understand and solve their problems. I often find that clients will have the seed of a good solution or strategy already in mind when they come to me. The other component of my client interaction is evaluative. When appropriate, I try to provide an outside perspective on their problem to give them a realistic idea of how their case may be viewed by a judge, jury or arbitrator.
I have extensive experience representing financial institutions, broker-dealers and financial advisers in all types of litigation before FINRA arbitration panels as well as in state and federal courts. Because of this I have a well-developed understanding of the financial services industry and the issues affecting it. I also specialize in general business litigation and employment litigation and counseling.
Universally, whether the client is a large financial institution, an individual or a small business, clients care about results and value. I always keep that at the forefront of my mind.
Like many of my NPW colleagues, I spent the first half of my career working for several of the largest and most respected law firms in the country. The training and experience I gained over those years allows me to provide my clients with top-tier legal expertise and service without the astronomic rates and bureaucracy of a large law firm.
My favorite part of my work is helping people solve problems. I think this is the essence of my work. I’ve had the experience of trying to explain the job of a lawyer to my three young daughters. It’s not an easy job to explain. After thinking about it for quite a while, I realized that the best way to explain it is to boil it down to its simplest form. People come to me with serious problems, problems that they sometimes don’t understand, problems that impact their business, family and life. It’s my job to help them find the best solution. I find it incredibly satisfying.
